Policy

The University's commitment to Open Access was reinforced in July 2020 with the publication of a revised Open Access policy and associated procedures, including the research and education procedures.

The new policy and associated procedures have been discussed extensively by a number of University committees and reflect the University's commitment to broad dissemination of knowledge and the changing landscape of publication. These include the recent directives from the Australian Research Council (ARC), the National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) and other funders.

Researchers are now required by the University to deposit metadata shortly after publisher acceptance followed by a copy of most research outputs to the University's Open Research Repository within 12 months of publication.

All ANU students and staff are encouraged to look at the policy and associated procedures and contact Open Research staff should they have any questions.
