Contribute your research

The Australian National University is a research-intensive, research-led university. Consequently, the University's Open Access Policy contains a commitment to the dissemination of research findings as essential, both to differentiate our research excellence and to support national and international research excellence.

Who can contribute?

According to the ANU Open Access research procedure:

All staff member (including those holding an Honorary status, such as Emeriti and Visitors), Higher Degree by Research, Undergraduate and Postgraduate by Coursework students can deposit research outputs.

University staff are welcome to deposit work they completed before they began at ANU, but we ask that you indicate your former affiliation in the "Notes" field.

What can you contribute?

  • Journal articles
  • Conference papers
  • Book chapters
  • ANU theses
  • Working or technical papers
  • Other non-traditional forms (NTROs) of scholarly communication, such as creative works, conference posters and presentations and images.

Please note: Generally the Library cannot make the publisher's PDF available, so if you have a copy of your Author Accepted Manuscript (AAM) / Post-print available please submit that in lieu of / as well. It is more than likely that a publisher will allow us to make this copy available in Open Research, albeit sometimes with an embargo). In any case the Open Research team will check the copyright permissions of your uploaded item/s and contact you should an alternative version be required to meet publisher policies.

ORCID Integration

We are now able to attach ORCIDs to all your publications in Open Research. If you would like to take advantage of this repository feature please send your ORCID details to repository.admin@anu.edu.au. If you don't, as yet, have an ORCID you can register for one at http://orcid.org. It only takes a couple of minutes to enter your name, create a passsword, add your ANU affiliation, make the profile public and then send your number to us.

Open Research staff will process your request and also supply your number to other ANU systems so you don't need to.
